Member FAQ1: What are those pictures under user's names?
-Those are called avatars. Its a personalized picture that you choose, and it is put underneath your name. Follow these steps if you're having trouble finding an avatar:
a) Go to
Google, or any place for that matter, and choose your picture. Right click on it, and click 'Save picture as.' Save it on your computer, preferably your desktop.
b) Go to an image host such as
Photobucket and upload your photo there. If you don't have an account, you can always create one.
c) Once uploaded, take the image URL, go to your profile, and paste it in there, under where it says 'I have my own pic.'

2: What is this 'love' I see by people's avatars?
- Love is the forum's version of karma, and a way of saying you like or dislike someone. If you see a good post, or if someone gives you a compliment, or anything nice, click the add button under their avatar. If for any reason you have to subtract karma, do so with the subtract button. This only applies if karma is enabled.

3: What are moderators? (global moderators, administrators)
-Moderators and global moderators are people with special power on the board. They can lock topics, remove them, warn people, and also ban people. There are also administrators, the highest ranked people on the board. They control every aspect of the boards features, and can do everything moderators and global moderators can.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4: How can I become one of these moderators?
-There are a couple rules to becoming a moderator.
a) Be nice. The administrators like to see nice people that are considerate, helpful and caring to other members of the forum.
b) Be active. Come back frequently to the site. Only active people are selected to be moderators because moderators have the responsibility of coming back to the forum more often than not, sometimes for hours on end. It is no use having a moderator that never comes back, because they are no help at all.
c) One of the most important rules, never ask. Asking to be a mod basically will tell the administrators that you don't need to be a moderator. They will choose the right people(s) when the time comes.
d) Don't get warnings. Getting a warning for any reason decreases your chance of becoming a mod by a large amount. A warning shows that you were doing something wrong, and moderators are usually people who have a slick record.
Note that moderators are only chosen when they're needed, and positions aren't given away as rewards for good behavior.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5: What are the pictures below the posts?
-Those are call signature images. They are larger than avatars, but have the same basic purpose; to customize your account. To get one, upload it onto your image host, and put it in the box that says "signature." If you want it to show up as a picture instead of a link, put the URL to the image between the IMG tags.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6: What do those topics with a lock mean?
-It basically means that the thread is not able to be posted in. No one can post in it (except for staff members) and they are usually locked because they hold information that shouldn't be posted in, or the topic was deemed inappropriate to continue discussion.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7: My topic got locked for no reason! This isn't fair!
-If you think your topic got locked for no reason, you are probably wrong. The moderators don't lock topics unless they have a good reason to. Life is rough, I know. Just continue posting, its not the end of the world. If you still think that your thread was locked for an invalid please send a private message to a moderator and they will talk with you about it. A staff member generally posts an explanation to why a topic was locked.

8: How do I select a different theme?
a) First, make sure you are logged in, then click the 'Profile' button on the menu at the top. (It's happened, people are logged out and for the life of them can't figure out why their profile button isn't there).
b) On the left, there is a sidebar. Click, 'Look and Layout Preferences.'
c) At the top, it will say 'Current Theme: xxx (change)' Click this.
d) There is now a list of all the themes available to you. You can preview the theme, or use it as your own.
Note that when you log out, it will change back to the default theme. No worries, it will change back to yours as soon as you log in again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9: Are there any hidden boards I should know about?
-Yes, there are hidden boards, and no, you really shouldn't know about them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10: Why does nobody trust me here?
-We do trust you, but to a certain extent. Like all the other members here, you have to earn your trust with us. We tend to trust our older members here more than newer ones. This isn't to be mean, but it's because they have already proven themselves to be honest members of our community. You can do the same, it just takes a little time.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11: No one replied to my topic, why?
-Some threads just aren't meant to be popular. Its just a thread, move on and post something else. It happens to everyone, at some point there is just a thread that doesn't interest anyone.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12: What the heck is FAQ?
-It means Frequently Asked Questions, and yes, this is a frequently asked question.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
13: How do I post?
-Make sure you are logged in. Go to any thread, for example, 'The Question Thread' and click on it. Once there, you see people's replies. At the bottom, there is a button called 'reply.' Click that, and you'll see a text box with smiles, etc. Type your message there, then click 'Post.' Simple.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
14: How do I PM someone?
-You can do this either by clicking on the icon under their username (if it is present on your theme), or click on their username, and once in the user's profile go to the bottom of the page and click, 'Send this user a personal message.'
