"We're going to be late! I'll race you to the door. Come on Endashi!"

She waved at Endashi and her dog, then grabbed Kay by the wrist again and tugged her along as she ran out. They hurried through the building and down to where Owlstar and Lindsay was. Now that the five of them were together they could get down the business.

"Lindsay, since you found out everything about this place, YOU are now in charge. Congratulations!" Jade said, and looked around. It really was a creepy place, but she didn't have any weird feelings like she usually did when she walked into a haunted building. Realizing she hadn't let go of Kay yet, she released her friend and smiled.

Lindsay accepted her position of power with a bow and looked one last time at the buildings around her before she looked at the others gathered there.Whatever they were about to do she hoped it was ok. She didn't often like being in charge because if she messed up, the whole group would mess up, and that would be her fault. This time it was even more important not to do anything wrong.

"OK. I haven't felt anything weird around here, not like it apparently was last night. But I think we should all stick together. People have been saying this place is haunted, but there's also the reports of the evil people hanging around here, and we don't want to get caught by them! For now we'll look around these houses."

She wasn't sure if there was anything to worry about. This was a rather quiet island, but most of it was nice apart from this little bit. She wasn't sure why any renegade groups like the Witchcrafters would hang around in a place like this, and she was sure if they were, she would know it by now. Whatever was going on though it paid to be safe.

Kay sighed as she was tugged along. That seemed to be Jade's thing with her. No one else found themselves rocketing out of their hotel room, or anywhere else for that matter, feeling as through their arm would soon be removed from its socket. Kay loved Jade, she really did, but sometimes it would be nice to go somewhere without being tugged along, if only because Jade was always plenty hyper, and it contrasted very much with Kay's much more calm and quiet persona.

This time she took Jade's hand and started walking towards the nearest building. She figured that as long as they stayed close (the buildings weren't very large, and they could cover more ground if they investigated a few at a time, as long as they were within eyesight of each other. Really, unless there was anything inside the buildings, all they had to do was look inside the single door on each one.

For now, everything seemed quite normal. Perhaps she had overreacted the previous night. That feeling almost made her wish they would find something, because otherwise she would have dragged them out here for nothing, and that wasn't something she wanted on her mind. For the sake of research, she took her phone out of her bag and kept it ready in case there was anything to take photos of. She wasn't sure if anyone was going to follow her, but the first building was only a few yards away, so the others could catch up if they wanted to.

Kay opened the first door - or tried. It took both hands to push the door open, and it creaked loudly as it swung slowly. The doors were a lot thicker than they looked, and though the wood was rotting in some places, they were very sturdy and heavy. The only light came from the doorway, but a few beams of light snuck through places in the roof where tiles had come loose or fallen away. A few upturned tables and stools littered the floor, but apart from that, they were empty. The interior was made of small, patterned tile all the way up to the roof, and much of it had chipped away to be replaced with concrete. The entire building looked empty.

"I'm not quite sure what this is supposed to be..." Kay murmured, more to herself than anyone else. It was empty, old and abandoned, but something about it made chills run down her spine. The air was acrid and ragged, and before she knew it, she had turned away from the door in a coughing fit. It tasted bad, and left an aching sensation in her chest. She looked at Jade, wiping her eyes. "I don't think we should go in any of them, though," she said, grinning.

She looked around at the others. She wasn't sure where they were headed, but hopefully they got the hint and didn't decide to wander around in any of the buildings if they were all like that. Remembering her phone, she took a breath, pointed her phone inside the building and took a few snapshots. There wasn't anything special about it, but she had learned to always document everything whenever possible - just in case.

As Endashi followed the group of friends down the way, she saw Kay move into one of the buildings, using her whole body to shove open the door. She was promptly attacked by a coughing fit, and Endashi grabbed Larn's collar to make sure he didn't run into the buildings. She really didn't want to have to run after him, the buildings were creepy and quite possibly toxic.

There didn't seem to be anyone else around, with no other sound but their own, which just added to the whole creepy factor and gave Endashi chills.

"Where to next?" she asked.

Owlstar watched as Kay shoved against the door of one of the buildings, then started having a cough attack. After checking she was okay, Owlstar asked, "Did you see anything in there?"

The old, crumbling, abandoned look of all the buildings creeped her out, but it was also a bit interesting at the same time. She looked at all the buildings in turn. They all varied in sizes and probably used to have various uses as well, but they all had the same look about them, like they were hacked with saws and other tools all over then just left to rot.

I wonder what these buildings were used for. Owlstar thought.

"Once we're done looking around, we could ask around to see if anyone knows anything about these buildings." she suggested to the group.

Lindsay couldn't help but grin as Kay stopped coughing and looked up at Jade. That was Kay. What a dork. However as she walked over to look inside the open door (staying far enough away from it) she also got a feeling of chills down her spine. There wasn't anything wrong with the building itself. She didn't know what it was supposed to be, since it looked like a mix between a cafeteria and a shower room, but something about it made her nervous.

But that was what they were there for, and she took that feeling as a good sign, that they were on the right track. If that was all they were up against, they could hurry and check each building, then maybe take Owlstar's advice and ask people in the area if they knew anything about them. Come to think of it that would have probably been a better idea then going off to investigate all by themselves, but that wasn't the point. She didn't feel anyone else in the area, at least not anyone who could be evil and stuff, so she decided to get it over with.

"I think we can all spread out and check every building, if they're all like this I don't think we'll be in trouble. Just be careful to stay out of them! If you see anything let us know, then we can all get back together and start questioning the locals. And if you can take pics like Kay, go for it."

She turned immediately and headed towards the opposite ends of the buildings farthest away from them. It was always better for her to scout first.

As soon as she got permission Jade went running down the line of buildings. She wanted to see ghosts or scary people or other things that weren't really supposed to be there, but every building pretty much looked the same. The one thing she did notice was that there didn't seem to be anything there at all besides them. No birds, no other animals, not even ants. It was like there was no life at all over in this area. The only plants were dead weeds.

She sprinted back to Kay's side to see if she had found anything. Lindsay was going far away like a complete weirdo and everyone else was just looking around. Jade was getting bored already. This area wasn't creepy enough, the sun was shining and everything seemed amazing.

"Do you think we can go question people now? I want to be a detective and the only problem with these buildings is that they smell funny." She poked Kay a few times then kept walking by her. She did trust Kay, so she would try to be patient...

"I think we're almost done, hold on," Kay said distractedly. By now it was pretty clear all of the buildings were the same, but she wanted to check just to make sure. She was determined to find something. She had definitely felt something the night before, and wasn't going to let herself get discouraged. If she couldn't trust herself, she didn't have any place there investigating.

She held her breath and opened one last door. It looked pretty much the same as all the others, but she did a double take. Inside this particular building, there were no spare pieces of furniture lying strewn about on the floor, nor broken tiles. It was also darker than the others - the roof didn't seem to have any holes. On closer inspection, Kay saw large sheets of black canvas stretched out over the inside ceiling.

Kay took a few snapshots with her phone and put it in her pocket. It wasn't much, probably even nothing, but it was enough to satisfy her own interests for the time being. She nodded at Jade, then waved over at the others.

"I think I'm finished... you haven't found anything have you?" she asked to no one in particular.

There was no one around, and nobody in any of the buildings. Quite frankly, it was creepy. Owlstar mentioned asking people about why the buildings gave them the willies (Endashi shivered as she poked her head into another building and quickly ducked back out - Larn wouldn't even go near the buildings, and he kept looking at her like she was an idiot and he was the only sensible one around), but Endashi didn't really see any people anywhere to actually ask.

"Nothing here. This is useless, there's obviously nothing in the buildings. I think we should ask some people, but hey, do YOU see anyone here besides us?" she asked the group.

Owlstar shook her head.

"No, but I was thinking we go into town and ask around." she suggested.

Poking her head into another building, she saw the same things as the others: spiderwebs, dusty floors, and moldy furniture. I wonder what happened to this place and who lived here. she wondered. Pushing her hair behind her ears, Owlstar walked into the building to take a look around. Maybe she'd find something useful.

Owlstar walked over to one of the couches not crawling with spiders and looked down at it. Maybe something is stuck between the cushions or under it. she thought. Kneeling to the floor, she looked under the couch. There was nothing. She stood back up and started feeling between the cushions. Aside from the dirt and dust, she found a piece of paper. Owlstar was unable to decipher, it was pretty old and ick.

She walked back to the group and said, "I found this in the couch in that building over there. Is anyone able to read what it says?"

(('kay how about we fast forward a bit. We can post a few times about what we heard from the local people or anything else we found out. Go crazy with it. xD Then we can fast forward to it being night and going out to explore something again and this time we find EVIL PEOPLE. O:))

Lindsay jogged back to the others. It looked like they were all finishing up, and there wasn't really anything else they had to do. The next thing they needed to do sounded like Owlstar had suggested. At least when they needed to go talk to people they didn't all have to be together. Maybe they could figure out why it seemed so creepy, dead and abandoned over here.

She sighed. She felt a little uneasy, like there was something she was missing, but she wasn't going to stick around if no one else was. She might be able to convince Kay though, while the rest went off...

"Ok, I guess we can check out the rest now, or go wherever you want," she said. "I think I'm going to do some more looking around... Kay, you are special and get to come with me. I might catch some people later and see what find. But let's all meet back in the room by the time the sun goes down ok?"

((Sounds good to me. I'll do the honors then! OOH and when we go look for the bad guys there can be a battle of epic proportions!))

The sun was just setting as Jade walked her way back to the hotel room where she hoped the others were, or coming back to. Jade had tried her best to bother every person she could see. After a while it seemed to her like there were less people on the streets, but that was probably just a coincidence.

So far she had learned that while there wasn't much strange about the area or buildings themselves, there had been some weird people sighted around there during the night hours. They had always been in groups and looked pretty dangerous, so no one had bothered to check what they were actually doing. To make things even better, apparently the island was so small that there was no official police force. The five guys that were in charge mostly dealt with petty theft and had no interest taking on evil demons from the black abyss, which was weird, because that was their job.

She checked back into the room and looked around. It didn't look like anyone else was back yet, which figured. She had important information and no one was there to hear it! Maybe they were all out there having an epic battle without her, which would suck.

[Come on in and be creative. Plot's a'moving, so don't be shy!]

Kay walked back into the room shortly after, sighing with exhaustion, but anxiously hoped that someone else was in the room already. Lindsay had fell behind a little, choosing to check a few other things on the way back, but Kay had hurried back. It wasn't that she had heard anything more than what she was expecting, but what she had found when looking over the photos she had taken earlier.

To her delight and relief, Jade was already in the room, looking a bit impatient. If there was anyone who could have found something, it would have been her (though the others could have gotten something useful as well via intimidation). Kay hurried over to her and sat down next to her, not even waiting to hear what she had found.

"Jade!" she exclaimed breathlessly. "Look. I found something when I was looking through the photos of the buildings' interiors."

She pulled out her phone and flipped through the photos until she came across one of the later photos she had taken. While at first glance it seemed incredibly boring and just like all the others, a closer inspection revealed a row of gleaming knobs on the wall that looked like they could be faucets or nozzles.

"I'm not sure what those are, but they look awfully new to be inside old and abandoned buildings, don't you think?" Kay said, looking at Jade. "I heard a few rumors about weirdos hanging around there after dark. I want to bet that whatever is going on inside has to do with them, and that this isn't just some lowly street gang using that neighborhood as a gathering point."

She stopped for a moment, taking a breath and slowing down.

"What did you find out? We can wait for the others to get here if you'd like, but I think you might only be staying here for a little while. I think we may need to explore again, and this time get ready to meet some people who may bite back."

Endashi had kind of cheated a little. She did spend some time snooping around and talking to people, but when that led nowhere she found a quiet spot and just rested against a smooth rock, taking in the beautiful weather and quiet peacefulness, absently rubbing Larn's silky soft fur. Finally she got up and decided that she'd better head back to the hotel. When she opened the door, Kay and Jade were already back, and she had the feeling that she'd interrupted them in the middle of a conversation, they had that kind of looks on their faces.

"So? What's up? Did you guys find anything?"

Jade took a closer look at the photos Kay was showing her. She didn't have any idea what they were, but it was enough to tell them that there was something going on in that area. That was enough for her. And it meant they could do something exciting! Jade wasn't a fighter but she hoped she could at least do something, since that was her job. Maybe ride Endashi's dog into battle or something.

Endashi walked into the room just a few seconds later followed by her dog as Jade and Kay were looking over her photos. She wasn't sure what Endashi had found out, but unless she had any specific answers it probably didn't matter anyways.

"We just found out that there's a bunch of wackos hanging around that part of the island at night and that they're probably messing around in some of the buildings. Yeah and apparently there's no one here who actually wants to go check it out. So that's what WE get to do! Oh yeah. What did you see?"

Jade looked out the window of their room. It was quiet outside, and she didn't see anyone else walking around. She wondered if the others were ok.
